|Braces are important dental implants. They are crucial to straightening teeth and giving us a perfect smile. However, the process tends to take time. And during this time, you must make some adjustments to your food regimen so that you can keep your braces intact for them to do their job.
However, it's important to note that having braces will impact your daily routines and the freedoms of the types of foods you can eat. Generally, braces aren't the strongest dental implants you can have. That's because any unnecessary strain can break them, meaning you will have to come in for some correction.
Fruits and vegetables are a crucial part of a human's diet. They provide crucial nutrients for us to continue to live a healthy life. However, some raw foods can be dangerous for the well-being of your teeth. Here are a few ways you can continue to eat fruits and veggies during your time with braces:
Chopping Them into Small Bits
Hard fruits and veggies such as carrots are delicious. However, due to their hard nature, they can destroy your braces. To eat such foods, chopping them into small bits can make it easier to chew. Certain vegetables can also damage the brace wires. Consider making a salad with small bits so that you can use less force to crush them into even smaller pieces.
Clean Teeth after Dining
While you have braces on, it's crucial to observe better dental hygiene than before. That means brushing and flossing your teeth after your meals. We do this so that any stray pieces that might be hidden in between the teeth can be eliminated. If you leave the pieces of raw fruit and veggies on teeth with braces, it might disrupt the alignment process, thereby causing you to go for another visit to the dentist for another fitting.
Since the teeth are an extension of bone, it usually takes some time to see the results of braces. Therefore, you might have to stay with the braces for a couple of months for them to be as effective as you need. During this time, it's crucial to handle your dental hygiene as well as possible. If you have any queries about this, you can always make an appointment with us and we'll help you!
